Following the drastic changes in the Legal Aid system the family courts are seeing an unprecedented level of applications for contact and residence being filed with the court. Many of these applications are being filed by people who are ‘acting in person’ and unable to afford legal advice. The knock on effect to this rise in applications to the court is that there are longer waiting periods for court dates and CAFCASS reports resulting in cases taking months if not years to be processed through the court. If you would like to discuss the alternative options to making an application to the court please contact one of our family law specialists on 01273 734600.
