The Land Registry reduced fee scale order 2013 comes into effect on Monday 17th March 2014. The Land Registry, who are the government department responsible for registering land in England and Wales, have announced that following  the efficiency savings they have made in the last year it is reducing some of its fees for many applications lodged electronically. These changes mean that firms who subscribe to the new registration process can lodge their applications online, rather than on paper, and in doing so get access to cheaper fees for their clients.

At Crosby & Woods we are extremely proud to be a Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme (‘CQS’) accredited conveyancing firm and we are committed to achieving and maintaining best practice standards in Conveyancing and also acting at all times in our clients best interests, including wherever possible making sure that we get the lowest possible fees for all of our clients for the searches and land registration fees they will have to pay for their property matter. As part of that commitment to our clients we have signed up to the new electronic submission scheme and so we are ready to take advantage on day 1 of the discounted fees offered by the Land Registry from 17th March 2014 – this discount being offered by the Land Registry only to those firms who have registered with them in advance and who are therefore able and more importantly wanting to be proactive to obtain these savings which can then automatically be passed on to their clients.

If you are buying a property for between £200,001-£500,000 then the land registry fee is reduced by 50% from £270 to £135 and the saving made can go towards much more exciting things for your new home!
