The term ‘Common Law Spouse’ is one of those terms many of you have probably heard of. Unfortunately English law does not recognise the Common Law Spouse and there are therefore thousands of couples living as co-habitants that may not have the entitlements to their partners assets as they might have thought. This is still the case regardless of the number of children you may have had together or the amount of years you have lived together as a couple. If you would like advise on your rights as co-habitants then please contact our Family Law specialists on 01273 734600.
